All we hear is radio silence, radio silence…

Poorly executed Queen reference aside, this post is just a little shout-out to say I’m still alive and kickin’.

I don’t post about my personal crap on this blog but let’s just say there’s been an awful lot of it lately, and little has been going as planned. But I, I will survive. As long as I know how to string a sentence together, I know I’ll stay alive.

Somebody stop me, because I can’t stop myself.

Got some cool stuff in the works: two new cheat sheets, something that’s not quite a cheat sheet but rather something totally new, and a site—created in cooperation with the the stealthy John Athayde and criminally generous Geoff Grosenbach—that I think you will all love and find terribly useful.

Here’s a little preview of what’s to come (logo a lá John) :

No more info here! HAH!

UPDATE: John’s posted a tutorial on how he created the logo.

But none of it’s done yet, for the same reason I’ve cited above (e.g. personal crap). I’d love to just hole up in my apartment for ages and write and write and design educational material to give away for free, but unfortunately I haven’t figured out how to make that happen… yet. If you have any ideas, let me know.

I will be at RailsConf, giving a talk on designers in the development process. If you’re going, you know how to spot me (e.g. blue-green hair). I will show you a sneak preview of what I’m working on if you ask sweetly.

Slash7 is still a major priority for me this year, and the moment I get some down-time it will be back with a vengeance. Oh, if you could see the plans I have in my head. I just have to find a moment to breathe.

I want to thank you all for sticking with me through the silent, useless period. Maybe I can design cool shit, but without your support and interest, it wouldn’t matter. So please don’t think I’ve forgotten.

In the mean time, enjoy this humorous little gem from the funny new kid on the block, Donn—I mean, Rails Envy:

Hang in there! Looking forward to meeting you at RailsConf.

Sorry to hear you’ve had personal stuff intervene.

I’m through the worst of the crunch with my dayjob stuff, and the offer of help with squashing renderbugs on Slash7 still stands.

Hurray, you are back! You are my absolutely favoritest tech writer/designer. I have missed your postings the past few weeks, and have been glumly wondering if you were packing it in for good. Glad my fears are ungrounded!
